Why is Vitamin B-12 important?

Vitamin B-12 is essential for the production of red blood cells, and the proper functioning of your nervous system. Vitamin B-12 deficiency occurs if there is not a sufficient amount in your diet, or if you are not able to absorb enough from the food you consume. Oftentimes older adults, vegans, vegetarians, and patients with diabetes are deficient in vitamin B-12. Those who are deficient in vitamin B-12 often feel fatigued, weak, have pale skin and experience breathlessness or dizziness.

What do Vitamin B-12 injections do?

Vitamin B-12 injections consist of hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin, which raise the levels of vitamin B-12 in your blood. These injections can improve energy levels, elevate mood, combat fatigue, and boost metabolism.

How long do the results last?

The body absorbs the injections within minutes, and patients tend to feel the benefits of the increased vitamin B-12 levels after about 1 week. Depending on your deficiency, you may want to schedule regular maintenance appointments with us to keep your levels stable.
